During the VIEWS project, we will be creating new resources for you to enjoy. But right now we are at the very beginning of the project, and new creative ventures will take some time. In the meantime, if you are looking for some resources on the history of writing, you may like to head over to our sister website.

Before VIEWS, there was CREWS – a five-year project on Contexts of and Relations between Early Writing Systems. CREWS included a significant outreach component, with a popular series of ‘Write your name’ worksheets and ‘Write with CREWS’ videos, as well as a set of Writing in the Ancient World teaching materials that can be downloaded for free. Follow the links below to explore them.

Most of these resources were compiled by Pippa and/or her CREWS colleague Philip Boyes, with significant contributions from Natalia Elvira Astoreca and Robert Crellin who were also researchers on the CREWS project. Writing in the Ancient World illustrations are by Katie Idle.
